The Kanmuri Dojo was established in 1990 at the Lache community centre by Stephen Boulton.
The dojo teaches traditional Japanese techniques, both unarmed and armed.
Kanmuri Dojo`s training aims are to develop the ability to protect one self and others using techniques that focus on disabling an attacker as efficiently as possible. As such we do not train for completions or contests.
Kanmuri Dojo does not adhere to any official guideline or set of rules to limit action or techniques used during training, but rather encourage the students to focus on finding their own way of overcoming an opponent. The approach used in the dojo includes gaining control through pain and using damaging techniques in order to survive dangerous situations.
Training is done in a controlled manner that entails little risk of injury to students.
Our instructors have over 70 years’ experience between them, Stephen Boulton has been in martial arts over 40 years he holds a Black belt in Karate with the British Karate Association and is part of the Bujinkan Dojo in Japan.
Our instructors are first aid trained, and CRB checked and insured through Martins Martial arts insurance.
The Training is taken by Stephen Boulton with help from Tim Bartley
